Quickly Forgetting Jesus
There have been many crowds following Jesus all of His ministry. Some crowds have bad reactions and want to harm Him, some have mixed reactions, but many times the crowds have very positive reactions. Notice what the multitude does in Matthew 21 as Jesus is entering Jerusalem.
"Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.” - Matthew 21:8-11
This fulfillment of prophecy from Zechariah 9 shows a wonderful reaction the people have to Jesus. They treat Him like a king and regard Him as a man from God. Maybe they even thought He could be the Christ or Messiah.
